Our long-awaited 20th anniversary celebration on March 8th was marvelous! We welcomed 17 volunteers from North Carolina, 10 from Southern California, and Pastor Joe’s nephew from Kansas. We were blessed to have the Member of Parliament from Gomoa West District, who is also the deputy energy minister gracing the occasion with his party faithful. The chiefs and queen mothers in Ankamu came in their full regalia. We hosted dignitaries from the education service, private schools’ association, and church groups. In all more than 300 people attended and everyone enjoyed refreshments after the 4-hour ceremony!

The anniversary theme was “Including, Integrating and Empowering persons with disabilities.” The keynote speaker was Bonnie Nakasuji, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA, who is also the president of MTC’s board of directors. The guest of honor was my mentor Bishop Ampadu Duku of Victory Bible Church from Cape Coast. The celebration was for us to thank God for His faithfulness and to express our gratitude to all churches, individuals, and organizations that have supported us. For this reason, when I visited the United States for Joshua’s graduation in May, we seized the opportunity to organize with Pastor Nancy Hoerner of Allwood Community Church in Clifton, NJ, a separate 20-year anniversary celebration on Sunday, June 1st. Representatives from churches and individuals who attended enjoyed updates about our school from 2005.
